(Boston, MA) 246 emergency response vehicles across Massachusetts will be equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) with $527,000 in state and federal grant funding.
About 70% of Massachusetts cities and towns applied for the grant and all of them will receive funding for AED equipment through the authorized use of federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program funds. The JAG funding covers 12 of the 246 applicants, amounting to $27,000 of the total $527,000.
Governor Baker said, “Providing first responders with immediate access to an AED will improve cardiac patient care and improve emergency response.”
Recipients of the grant include the Buckland Police Department, Deerfield Fire Department, Erving Fire Department, Gill Police Department, Greenfield Fire Department, Hawley Fire Department, Leverett Fire Department, Sunderland Police Department, and Whately Fire Department.
