(Northfield, MA) — A 40 year old man from Brattleboro was arrested following a Sunday night pursuit in the town of Northfield. Police say that a Northfield officer pulled over a car on Warwick Road shortly after 8 pm. The driver took off from the scene and drove at a high rate of speed to Main Street, where he crashed his car and fled on foot toward the Connecticut River. Police from multiple towns converged on the area and tracked the suspect to Mitchell’s gravel pit, where he was placed under arrest by Northfield Police Chief Robert Leighton. The suspect’s name has not yet been released. He was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center for treatment for hypothermia, and is expected to recover.
