(Gill, MA) — A long-discussed project to increase safety at the French King Bridge is apparently moving forward. State officials have announced that the planned construction of new bridge barriers to prevent people from jumping will begin this summer and be completed in 2022. The French King has been the site of numerous suicide attempts over the years, which prompted local officials to begin pushing for the state to make safety improvements.
