(Greenfield, MA) — Officials at Greenfield Community College say a recent all-school meeting was hit by cyber-hackers. The February event, which was held in part to award the four annual Martin Luther King Jr. “Bright Lights and Living the Dream” awards, was subject to a “zoom bombing,” which is a term used to describe when a virtual meeting is interrupted by hackers who usually introduce offensive messages or images specifically to disrupt the event. The identity of the hackers has not been revealed, but college officials say steps are being taken to ensure that future similar incidents do not occur.
