(Greenfield, MA) New exit numbers have taken hold in Greenfield. The Greenfield downtown exit, which used to be exit 26, is now exit 43. And Greenfield’s Route 2 exit has changed from 27 to the new Exit 46.
MassDOT has been working overnight to change the exit numbers that will now match Federal Standards where numbers match mile posts and are not sequential in nature. Since exits are supposed to match the mile markers, exit 28 in Bernardston will not be exit 45 but rather exit 50 because it is 50 miles from the Connecticut boarder. The idea is to make navigation easier for motorists.
