(Athol, MA) A COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be available to the public on April 6 at the Athol Senior Center. This clinic will be by appointment only, and appointments can be made on April 1 by calling (978) 830-0013. Anyone interested in a first dose vaccine may call on April 1 to make an appointment starting at 10am. On April 6, vaccine appointments will be available from 9am-1pm. Athol is seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases, and reported 58 new cases in one week on March 27. The positivity rate in the community almost doubled, from 2.92% to 4.46%, according to the Athol Board of Health. There is also an uptick in cases in the Commonwealth and fears of a third wave among unvaccinated and young people are spreading. Fears of the more transmissible UK B117 variant are also rising.
