(Turners Falls, MA) — In person classes at Turners Falls High School and Great Falls Middle School have been cancelled today after a suspicious odor was discovered in the building early this morning.
Turners Falls Fire Chief John Zellmann says the smell was discovered shortly after seven this morning, before students arrived for classes.
“It was found while students were on the way to school, and that gave (school officials) time to turn the buses around,” Zellmann said.
No injuries have been reported, but local firefighters and hazardous materials specialists from the Massachusetts State Police are currently working to identify the odor and its origin. Classes at both schools are being held remotely today.
