(Turners Falls, MA) — Investigators believe they have identified the cause of a suspicious odor which forced closure of Turners Falls High and Great Falls Middle School yesterday. A call came in shortly after 7:30 Thursday reporting the odor, which appeared to be coming from the school’s science labs. Turners Falls Fire Chief John Zellmann says hazmat crews have determined that the odor likely came from storm drains in the labs which hadn’t been used in many months. No one was hurt, and Zellmann says the drains were flushed out and cleaned.
