(Williamstown, MA) — A group of local firefighters spent the weekend helping to extinguish a 200 acre brush fire in Williamstown on East Mountain. Crews from Greenfield, Turners Falls and Colrain were part of the Franklin County delegation which was sent in to help. The fire is apparently still burning today, but at a lesser level than it had been two days ago. According to the West Brookfield Fire Department, Massachusetts State Police are also doing water drops on the fire that has been burning apparently since Friday. The fire apparently managed to spread 200 acres in three days. The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services as well as the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency are also on hand to assist.
