(Greenfield, MA) — The Monday afternoon fire which damaged a Greenfield Funeral Home was accidental in nature. That from Greenfield Fire Chief Robert Strahan, who says the blaze began at about 12:30 in the third floor residence of the Kostanski Funeral Home on Federal Street. Firefighters from multiple towns responded via Mutual Aid and brought the fire under control within 10 to 15 minutes. The third floor suffered significant fire damage while the first and second floors were mostly damaged by water. There were no funeral services going on at the time of the fire but there were employees in the building. No one was injured, and though the fire appears to be accidental, Strahan says the cause is still being determined.
