(South Deerfield, MA) — There’s a dirty problem plaguing the South Deerfield sewage treatment system. Deerfield Board of Health member Trevor McDaniel says the town is dealing with wipes and underwear which have clogged up the pump station several times over the last year. McDaniel says the problem has cost the sewer users and town thousands of dollars. One of the problem areas is near Captain Lathrop Drive, which is where one of the most affected pump stations is located. McDaniel says the board is asking the town’s residents not to flush such items into the system.
