(Greenfield, MA) — Greenfield’s former National Guard Armory may soon become a mixed use retail and housing complex. Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner says the state Division of Capital Asset Management has asked the city for an opinion on what it would like to see at the Hope Street site, which is now considered surplus state property. Wedegartner said she believes a mixed use development would be the best choice. Some city councilors have advocated turning the property into affordable housing exclusively. Wedegartner must send her response to DCAM by June 28.
