(Wakefield, MA) Eleven arrests have been made in regards to the standoff with police in Wakefield earlier this weekend. The individuals, who identify themselves as part of the “Moorish Sovereign Ideology,” were arrested Saturday after a standoff with Massachusetts State Police on I-95 in Wakefield.
The group claimed to be on their way from Rhode Island to Maine for training. None of the men had a license to carry firearms, but troopers recovered three AR-15 rifles, two pistols, a bolt-action rifle, a shotgun, and a short barrel rifle. The men, which included one juvenile, are charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, use of body armor in commission of a crime, possession of a high capacity magazine, improper storage of firearms in a vehicle, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Additional charges are possible and the investigation is ongoing. Bail is set for $100,000 for the adult males and the juvenile will be released into parental custody.
