(Greenfield, MA) — One of Greenfield’s popular cool-off spots remains off-limits to swimmers, for now. The Greenfield Swimming Area has been closed to swimmers since June 24th because of high bacteria levels in the Green River. A combination of heavy rains and high heat levels are being blamed for the spike in the bacteria counts. The concession, playground and other areas of the park remain accessible, though swimming is prohibited.
