(Orange, MA) — It looks as though aerial mosquito spraying may take place in the town of Orange regardless of how town officials feel about it. The Orange Selectboard has been notified that the town’s request to opt out of the aerial spraying program was denied by the state because the town presents a “moderate regional risk” for mosquito activity. A number of area towns, Orange included, have voted to opt out of the spraying because of concerns regarding potential public health impacts. State Senator Jo Comerford has informed the town that she will lobby to reverse the order and prevent the spraying from taking place.
