(Gill, Northfield MA) A body found Monday night in the Connecticut River in Northfield is the fourth time in nine weeks that a body has been pulled from the river, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities are investigating this latest discovery after a bicyclist spotted the body floating in the river below the Route 10 bridge near Gill around 7:20pm. The body was recovered near the Northfield Mount Hermon boathouse on Hayfields Road in Gill. Massachusetts State Police, as well as the Northfield Fire Department, Gill Fire Department, Northfield Police, and Gill police responded.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine a cause of death and an identity of the body which is that of an adult male. No foul play is suspected at this time.
