(Greenfield, MA) — The proposed site for Greenfield’s new fire station has a number of “environmental issues” which need to be dealt with. That was the message from Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegarter, who told the city council this week that demolition has begun on the Main Street Open Air Market site, which has been found to contain some minor environmental problems which need to be corrected before the town will assume ownership. Wedegartner said the current owner is correcting the problems, and the revelation is not expected to impact the project’s timeline.
