(Greenfield, MA) — We could see a number of new faces on the Greenfield City Council this fall.
The Greenfield City Clerk’s office has released the names of residents who have taken out nomination papers to run for the council this fall. Three names not on the list are incumbents Timothy Dolan (Precinct 5), Otis Wheeler (Precinct 7), and Ashli Stempel-Rae (At Large). Incumbents who have taken out papers to run for re-election are current Vice President Sheila Gilmour (Precinct 6), Douglas Mayo (Precinct 8), and current Council President Penny Ricketts (At Large).
Gilmour and Mayo are currently running unopposed, but Ricketts may be facing a contest, as political newcomers Brian Chamberlain and Kenneth D. Mullen III have taken out papers to run At Large, which means there are potentially three candidates for two available seats. There is also a potential contest brewing in Precinct 7, as former Councilor William Childs and newcomer Jasper Lapienski have both taken out papers. In Precinct 6, the lone candidate to pull papers is Marianne Bullock.
Nomination papers must be returned to the clerk’s office by 5 pm July 27th.
