(undated) — Massachusetts residents will get a chance to avoid the commonwealth’s 6-point-25 percent sales tax–but not for quite as long as the governor had hoped. This weekend will be another “tax free” weekend in Massachusetts. It will see the sales tax waived for most items, but only for Saturday and Sunday. Governor Baker’s efforts to have a two-month sales tax holiday was thwarted by state lawmakers who felt the proposal went too far.
