(Greenfield, MA) — Greenfield residents this fall will get a chance to vote on whether to alter the number of voter signatures needed to put a referendum question on the ballot. The Greenfield City Council last night voted to put a question on the November ballot asking if voters favor a charter change which would set seven percent of voters as the threshold to schedule a citizen referendum. The question would be advisory in nature, and if approved, would require special state legislation to implement.
