(Franklin County, MA) — It appears the track of now-Hurricane Henri has shifted once again. The NOAA National Hurricane Center’s 11pm update puts Henri on track father eastward over central Long Island, New York, Rhode Island and eastern mass. It’s expected to make landfall early Sunday, but forecasters say the more easterly track will likely mean Franklin County will see more rain than wind, which increases the risk of flooding, especially of streams, rivers and low-lying areas.
Areas like Deerfield may see evacuations in heavily flooded areas, so residents should keep phones and electronics charged and keep abreast of developing conditions. Wind gusts are still expected to sustain at 40mph, and heavy rain is still expected for the area. As many as half a million power outages are expected in Connecticut with many more in Massachusetts.
