(Greenfield, MA) The Baystate Hospital system, including Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, has announced a change to the visitor policy following a spike in COVID-19 patients. The tiered system is still in effect, but patients are limited to one to two visitors per day, depending on the tier, instead of one or two at a time. Minors are permitted one parent or guardian at a time. Anyone under the age of 18 must fall under a valid exception to the visitor policy, for example end of life care. The tiered system changes are as follows:

Major red tier changes include:

  • 1 visitor per day for patients who are not in the ICU (previously 1 visitor at a time).
  • 2 visitors per day for patients in the ICU (previously 2 visitors at a time).
  • 1 parent or guardian at a time for pediatric patients (previously 2 parents or guardians at a time).

Major yellow tier changes include:

  • 1 visitor per day for patients who are not in the ICU (previously 2 visitors at a time)
