(Bernardston, MA) On August 20, the Bernardston Police Department, along with the Massachusetts Police Department, escorted the runners with the New England Run for the Fallen through Bernardston for the “Honor Bear Project,” where the runners made stops along the way to read signs posted on trees, telephone poles, and street signs that listed the names of fallen service members to honor their sacrifice.
The New England Run for the Fallen is a three day run through Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. This is the first ever New England Run for the Fallen, and relay teams covered one mile each through Cushman Park in Bernardston to Fort McClary, Maine. A total of 500 service members were honored from August 20-August 22.
