(Deerfield, MA) — A group of Deerfield residents is unhappy with the town’s decision to discontinue part of Steam Mill Road as a public way. The Deerfield Selectboard voted in September to discontinue maintenance of a section of the road, the bulk of which is controlled by a private landowner. Town bylaws prevent public works from plowing and maintaining a private way. A total of six homeowners will be impacted by the change.
