(Leyden, MA) — Leyden’s police chief will be able to keep his job until he retires in June. That’s the ruling of the Leyden Selectboard, despite the objection of a number of residents who have been pushing for the ouster of Police Chief Dan Galvis, in the wake of his decision not to reappoint a female police sergeant earlier this year. Galvis has also faced criticism for a number of questionable comments he made in a series of emails to department members and town officials dating back to 2015. A disciplinary letter will be placed on Galvis’ personnel file, but he will be allowed to keep his job until retirement.
