Northampton’s Offer For Vacant Church Rejected By Owner

(Northampton, MA) – It looks like the city of Northampton will not be buying the former St. John Cantius Church building. The O’Connell Development Group of Holyoke has rejected the city’s $550,000 offer for the property, which it had hoped to convert into a planned Community Resilience Hub. The O’Connell Group has requested a permit from the city to demolish the building, which it is estimated would take several million dollars to redevelop.
