Combined Sources

(undated) — Western Mass was largely spared from the worst of a late October Nor’easter which blew through the region on Tuesday. That’s not the case in the eastern part of the state and the Cape and Islands, where over a half-million people lost power and thousands of dollars in property damage were reported, mostly from damaged roads and lines taken down and trees uprooted by at times hurricane force winds. The weather has since died down, and cleanup and restoration efforts in a number of communities are already underway.
