(undated) — Area residents are being advised of another phone scam involving people purporting to be from the federal government. People have been receiving robo-calls from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration notifying them that their social security number has been discontinued. It then provides a prompt asking for certain personal financial information to “reactivate” it. The federal government does not solicit such information over the phone, and anyone who receives such a call should contact their local police department.
