(New Salem, MA) — A driver escaped injury after his car caught fire in New Salem over the holiday weekend. The driver heard a loud pop from his car’s engine while driving down the Daniel Shays Highway. He was able to escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames. No word yet on what specifically caused the fire, which was quickly doused by firefighters from New Salem and Shutesbury.
