(Montague, MA) The Montague Fire Department was called to the area of Lake Pleasant Road around 11am this morning for reports of a working structure fire. Mutual aid was called from surrounding towns including Turners Falls, Erving, Greenfield, Leverett, Sunderland, Gill, Erving, Shutesbury, South Deerfield, Deerfield, Whately, and Bernardston. Northfield, Brattleboro, and Hatfield Fire Departments covered area stations. AMR and South  County Ambulance were at the scene as well but no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.  Lake Pleasant Road was closed while crews respond to the emergency until 3:30pm.

At this time, no cause no the fire has been determined and the fire was deemed undetermined but not suspicious. Montague Fire Chief David Hansen said the area where the fire started was identified, which was determined to be the washer and dryer room. The fire did not fit the usual signs of a dryer fire said Hansen. Hansen also said the entire upstairs of the home was destroyed by the fire but the first floor only suffered water damage.
