(Turners Falls, MA) – Homeless advocates from across the region are planning a Christmas Eve rally outside a building they believe should be used to house homeless people during the winter months. Trinity Health Systems and the town of Montague are trying to decide the future of the now-vacant former Farren Care Center in Turners Falls. Trinity officials say it would cost less to demolish the building than renovate it, but a number of people are lobbying for the building to be used as housing for the homeless. The demonstration will run from two to three pm outside the Farren on December 24th, and the public is being encouraged to attend.
