(Gill, MA) The plan to install safety barriers on the French King bridge will move forward as the project will go out to bid in the beginning of March. The bridge has been a destination for suicides for many years and officials from the towns of Gill and Erving have decided that the current railings are not tall enough. The new barriers will be 9 feet tall and will not block the view of the Connecticut River. The project is expected to cost $3.9 million.
