(Western Massachusetts) Wind gusts Friday are expected to bring temperatures down to anywhere from -15 below zero to -30 below zero. The National Weather Service says parts of Massachusetts could see wind gusts up to 60mph.
Eastern Franklin County has been put under a Wind Chill Advisory with wind chills as low as -15 below zero. Conditions could be worse in the hill towns west of the Connecticut River where they have a Wind Chill Warning with potential wind chills hitting -30 below zero at times.
Both weather advisories are in effect from 7pm Friday night until noon on Saturday and in both cases people are cautioned to wear appropriate clothing if outside for extended periods in order to avoid frostbite. Winds are expected to gradually calm down through the rest of the day and into the Saturday evening.
