(Greenfield, MA) – Two Holyoke men have been arrested following a Friday night car chase involving Greenfield Police. Luis Gabriel Colon Rodriguez, 35, and Edgar Luis Hernandez, 38, were arrested on gun and motor vehicle charges after a high speed chase which ended in the woods of Highland Avenue. Officer Patrick Merrigan noticed a car driving erratically on Main Street, Merrigan pursued the car down to the rotary and back uptown to Highland Avenue where the suspects fled into the woods. Greenfield K-9 officer Niko was able to tackle Hernandez for Merrigan, and State Police troopers apprehended Rodriguez as he exited the woods a few blocks away. The pair were taken to the Franklin County House of Correction. They will be arraigned Tuesday.
