(Shelburne Falls, MA) Administrators and committee members of the Mohawk Trail Regional School District have been discussing next years’ budget. Right now the district is looking at a 2.9% increase over the current year. At last week’s public hearing, the Superintendent Sheryl Stanton presented the district’s plan for next year. Goals include attracting more students and reducing monies leaving the district through School Choice. Plans include more music and computer science programs at the elementary schools and implementing a grant-funded program at the high school that emphasizes “students as leaders of their learning.” The committee will vote on the budget at their next meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 6:30.
