(Montague, MA) After years of legal battles, the town of Montague has taken ownership of the former Railroad Salvage property in Turners Falls. The building which housed the discount retailer was taken down a couple years ago after a fire. Since then, the town has been working with the EPA to make sure the site is cleaned up and hopefully someday, it could be developed. A cotton mill originally was located at the Power Street location, then a textile company, a department store and eventually Railroad Salvage in the for 20 years until the store closed in 1994.
