(Leeds, MA) As expected, the Department of Veterans Affairs released a report yesterday that recommends the closure of the VA Medical Center in Leeds. The report cites major maintenance issues and repairs that are needed at the facility which was built in 1923. Services that are currently provided in Leeds would be relocated around the region and in some cases, discontinued. Last week Congressmen Richard Neal and Jim McGovern issued a joint statement urging the VA to keep the medical center open.
