(Greenfield, MA) Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito visited Greenfield on Thursday after her announcement of the Efficiency and Revitalization Program in Buckland earlier that day. During her visit in Greenfield, Lt. Gov. Polito met with Mayor Wedegartner at City Hall to discuss downtown revitalization and the new fire station, among other topics. Afterwards, they went to the temporary Greenfield Fire Station on Hope Street to get a tour of the facility, meet some of the firefighters and thank them for the daily work they do in keeping our community safe.

The Efficiency and Revitalization Program includes a series of grants totaling $1.6 million going to towns across the state. Buckland and Shelburne are using the funds to combine their police departments in order to serve their residents “more effectively and more efficiently,” said Acting Chief Kurt Gilmore of Buckland Police Department. They will be receiving $200,000 for the project.
