(Greenfield, MA) Baystate Franklin Medical Center is looking for patients or family of patients who have received care at the hospital to join the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). PFAC was formed in 2009 and all Massachusetts hospitals are required to have one so there may be a space for family and patients to form a collaborative relationship with the hospital.

In the PFAC members share ideas and work with hospital administration and staff in the policy-making process. The goal is for patients and their family members “to be active participants in their care,” said Becky George, the BFMC Volunteer Coordinator. Additionally, the PFAC offers community-based education on how patients and their families can play an active role in their healthcare.

Members of the council must be 18 or older, been a patient or a family member of a patient who has received care at BFMC and be willing to work collaboratively for the good of the community.

If you or someone you know would like to join the Baystate Franklin Medical Center PFAC, please contact Becky George at 413-773-2318 or email her at Becky.George@baystatehealth.org or Charity Brown at 413-571-0519 or email her at Charity.Brown@baystatehealth.org
