(Colrain, MA) Around 6 am on Monday morning there was a structure fire in a multifamily building at 15 Foundry Village Road in Colrain. When crews arrived there was smoke coming out of the rear of the building, but it had mostly been extinguished already, leaving a burnt chair and carpet.

Neighbors took quick action with a fire extinguisher. The cause of the fire was found to be improper disposal of smoking materials. All occupants were reported to be safe and crews ventilated the building. Colrain Fire Department received aid from Shelburne, Health, Charlemont, Greenfield, and Halifax, Vermont departments both in assistance on scene and coverage during the call.
