(Greenfield, MA) Annual Greenfield Bee Fest will be held on Saturday, May 21st at Court Square. There will be activities from 9 am to noon on the lawn of the Second Congregational Church, ending with a parade around the Town Common.
This event was created to raise awareness for the honeybee, a vital pollinator and celebrates Lorenzo Langstroth. Langstroth was a pastor at the Second Congregational Church in the 1800s and is known as the father of modern beekeeping.
Activities include bee education, music, art installments, and more. Three new “Beatrice the Bee” sculptures by Rachael Katz of The Greenfield Gallery will be unveiled at the festival. Katz used a 3-D printer to produce the pattern for the bees, which were painted by local artists.
