(Orange, MA) The Orange Board of Health has released a statement to the public announcing that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection testing after the fire at the Old Cereal Factory building found asbestos in a limited amount of fire debris. Testing done prior to the June 4th fire revealed asbestos in the window caulking. The foam-like insulation material found After the fire does not contain asbestos, but some other materials might.
The Orange Board of Health is asking that anyone who finds debris from the fire should email gvoelker@townoforange.org to arrange a debris clean-up or a trash pick-up, if the debris has already been picked up. Include name, address, location of the debris on the property and a phone number. The Board of Health is “confident that this matter can be resolved safely and efficiently.”
