(Bernardston, MA) At approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Bernardston Fire Department responded to a fire alarm that went off at the Crumpin-Fox Golf Course in Bernardston. Upon arrival at the scene, Fire Chief Peter Shedd requested an additional fire engine.
Chief Shedd and Assistant Chief Grover forced entry after seeing smoke coming from the bar area. There was heavier smoke in the kitchen, leading the firefighters to find the stove on with a covered fry pan on a burner. After shutting off the stove, firefighters used exhaust fans to remove smoke then cleared the scene for Crumpin-Fox staff around 4 a.m. The golf course and clubhouse were able to open that morning after cleaning.
