(Greenfield, MA) At Tuesday night’s Committee Chairs meeting of the Greenfield City Council, Council Vice President and the Appointments and Ordinance (A&O) Chair Dan Guin announced the formation of an Ad hoc committee of A&O to be tasked with reviewing and making a recommendation on Charter section 7.7 and 7.8.
Guin stated he put the committee together to represent a cross section of Greenfield with two city council members, two members of the public, two members for the Mayor, and a seventh member to serve as the chair and moderator.
Their task will be to come to a consensus on sections 7.7 Citizens Initiative Measures and 7.8 Citizens Referendum Procedures of the City Charter. It would then go onto the A&O committee and then to the full council for a vote, before being approved by the Mayor and the state legislator for a change.
Representing A&O in the Ad hoc committee will be Katherine Golub of Precinct 1, Representing the City Council will be Derek Helie of Precinct 9, from the public will be residents Isaac Maas and Albert Norman, the Mayor will announce her candidates upon her return and the Chair will be the former chair of the charter review committee, David Singer.
Vice President Guin said, “I wanted to put together a group that have different opinions and views and by working together come out with what is best for the residents of Greenfield…call me old fashioned but I believe when people with different views sit down, work together and collaborate it is s where great policy is born.”
