Person Dead After Accident On Route 116

(Amherst, MA) *Update* The driver of one of the vehicles involved in a multi-vehicle crash on Friday has died. Around 8:45 a.m. Friday, police were called to an accident on Sunderland Road in Amherst. One driver passed away from injuries sustained in the crash while two other drivers were transported to Baystate Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Amherst Police along with Massachusetts State Police detectives and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office are investigating the accident.

There is a reported accident that occurred around 8:52 a.m. on Route 116 in Amherst with a roadway closure at the Sunderland townline. Multiple vehicles involved with a rollover and an alleged car on fire with entrapment. No word yet on injuries. The accident is being investigated and more details to follow.
