A pioneering broadcaster and legend in the radio industry has passed away. Saga Communications Chief Executive Officer Ed Christian died Friday after a brief illness. Christian founded Saga in 1986 and guided the company through an era of unprecedented growth and success. At a time when many radio companies have struggled to adapt to the changing radio landscape, Christian was successful in positioning Saga as an industry leader. Saga currently owns 194 radio stations in 27 markets, including the four stations of the Western Mass Radio Group in Greenfield. Christian’s legacy includes a relentless commitment to emphasizing local programming in each market. Former Saga Chief Operating Officer Warren Lada will serve as Interim CEO.
