(Orange, MA) The Northeast Houndsmen are holding their annual training seminar this week in Orange. Yesterday K9 units and their handlers from local departments and others along the east coast were training on Lake Mattawa with the help of the Northfield Dive Team, Athol Fire department, and Royalston Fire Department.

The Northeast Houndsmen began in the 90s as officers gathered with K9 units to train and became an official non-profit organization in 2015, hosting K9 teams from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey. These trainings focus on helping K9 teams excel in rescue and recovery efforts.

Residents may see units from surrounding areas around Lake Mattawa, downtown Orange, and East River Street. They will also be holding a night training Tuesday by the Orange airport.
