(Greenfield, MA) A Greenfield woman and a Turners Falls man were issued state prison sentences after pleading guilty to stealing $100,000 form an elderly man.

“The defendants richly deserved state prison sentences for their repeated exploitation of a vulnerable elder,” said ADA Webber. “Anyone who suspects this sort of abuse might be happening is encouraged to contact their local police department, the District Attorney’s Office, or Elder Protective Services.”

Rebecca Campagna, 39, of Greenfield and Jason Hamon, 47, of Turners Falls were sentenced to three to five years in state prison. Between 2018 and 2020 the two stole $100,000 from a 78 year old man suffering from dementia. According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, the pair “cashed hundreds of checks using a series of false pretenses, slowly and methodically draining the 78-year-old victim’s life savings.”

Hamon pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges and three counts of larceny. Campagna pleaded guilty to conspiracy and two counts of larceny.
