(Leverett, MA) Leverett will begin work on a culvert enhancement project on Shutesbury Road this week. The project will replace the current “corroding and poorly embedded culvert” with a natural bottom culvert that will open the connection to the stream for fish and other wildlife to pass through. This will improve the safety of the road while also protecting the environment.

Prep work will begin Wednesday, October 5th and Shutesbury Road between #6 and the intersection with Old Mountain Road will close Friday, October 7th through October 10th so that crews may complete the work over the long weekend. The road will be reopened on Tuesday, October 11th.

Residents are invited to speak during public comment at the upcoming Selectboard meeting on October 11th at 7:30 p.m., which will be held both virtually and in person.

Leverett is postponing the redesign of the Shutesbury and Cushman Road intersection and will be taking that project back up at a later time.
