(Greenfield, MA) Wednesday’s Greenfield City Council meeting again stretched late into the night. As part of attempting to make council meetings concise, councilors asked Mayor Wedegartner to hold public forums to engage with the community.
The public comment of council meetings has, at times, lasted two and a half to three hours and is sometimes directed to the executive branch, outside of the purview of the council. Consequently, this can push council business back into the late hours of the night.
The Mayor said she was open to finding an avenue to community discussions, although it is not clear what form those discussions may take, potentially bi-monthly public forums or meetings with each precinct. Councilor Forgey also suggested that the Mayor make a scheduled period of time during the week to meet with individuals one on one.
